My husband is almost ninety years old and has had several strokes so I want to get him the best care possible. Doctor Riedel and staff have provided that over the years they have taken such good care of him and my husband looks forward to his visits with him the Doctor is so kind and courteous and his staff is as well, I would recommend this Doctor to anyone he has saved my husband's eyesight as well as having performed cataract surgery for my own eyes. I was in to check my pressures after a few months of a revised therapy with a powerful compound drop medication. Both eye pressures were stable with the last visit. Dr. Riedel could see all the history with visits to other team members and their recommendations. He made one small correction to the record: I appreciated the attention to detail. I was told to schedule the next two visits, in August 2024 and in January 2025, where Dr. Riedel is now scheduling! I was also told about what was going to be tested in the visits and why. I explained a recent scary issue I had stepping from bright light into the darkness of the theater. I thought it might have been something new; instead Dr. Riedel said that it was from the long term damage to the optic nerve from glaucoma. I went in for a Visual Field Test, which is sort of like playing an old fashioned video game, but the results if negative, are no fun. I had three new team members for this visit: Samir, Liam, and Marta. All of them were very polite, friendly and good at their jobs. I know that a lot of medical practices are having trouble getting and keeping new team technicians and nurses, so this says a lot about MN Eye Practice's ability to sustain growth with high quality patient service. I have been having more challenges to my mobility with times of day and light changes, so I had some anxiety about the results of the Visual Field Test. Samir did a complete intake of my own comments about vision changes and issues I described, and he asked questions and inputted them into the e-chart. Liam helped me through the test, and answered a couple of questions I had. Dr. Riedel, with Marta, in the room, announced that my Visual field was stable! Yesterday's visit had tests and imaging. My glaucoma progression has been managed a very long time through MEC. Yesterday's visit began with my tech Holly taking me through the dreaded Visual Field Test, but she directed me clearly, explaining why certain things were done, and this calmed my rising anxiety. Afterwards, I asked her about aspects of the tests and the stats which I have never understood, which also helped me. Then I went to Eric who did some imaging, and he too was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Caitlin then took me into the examination room with Dr. Riedel, who because all of the testing, imaging and reporting were done well and ready for him, he quickly checked my pressures and optic nerve, read them all out to Caitlin, and I was told "things are going very well!" It really does take a team, including some other doctors who are part of my rotation, to deliver care for a complicated condition. The quality of my primary care physician/surgeon is really important, but so are the quality of the team supporting him and me in my care.
